Meet the Doctor
Dr. Phil Walters is a native of southeast Kansas and a graduate of Pittsburg State University. He completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Dr. Walters has been practicing in McPherson since 2010. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Kansas Optometric Association, the McPherson Chamber of Commerce, YPMac (Young Professionals Organization), and the McPherson Optimist club.
In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Walters manages many eye conditions, including red eyes, dry eyes, eye allergies, eye infections, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and many others. All comprehensive eye examinations follow a model of preventive care, monitoring for risk factors relating to sight-threatening disease.
Phil and his wife, Katie, have two daughters named Emory and Elsie and a son, Sam. Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with family and friends. His hobbies include playing guitar, golf and following his favorite sports teams.
Staff members at Walters Optometry are well trained in their field of expertise and attend continuing education classes throughout the year. This creates an office culture designed for excellent patient care and personalized service.
Karen will help you with your insurance and billing. She's been at this office for the past 12 years and says that what she loves most about her job is helping patients and trying to make their lives a little easier.
Karen lives in McPherson with her husband, Andy, and their dog, Buddy. She has two sons, eight grandsons, and one great grandson. She likes to spend her free time tending to her garden or in the kitchen, baking.
Kelly has worked at the reception desk since early 2012. She seems to always be in a good mood and is happy to help in any way that she can. Kelly's favorite part of her job is getting to visit with patients.
Kelly and her husband, Daril, have a farm just outside of town. Together, they have four children and ten grandchildren. Kelly likes to spend her free time doing yard work and reading.
